Extraordinary committee meeting
With a co-chair relocated and the secretary stepping down, the committee met to look at governance, the 2027 Regatta and the Association's future direction.
At a glance
Leadership changes
The co-chair has relocated and the secretary has resigned, prompting this extraordinary meeting about governance and the future of the DTA.
2027 Regatta at risk
The Closed tournament performed well, and the Open recorded a 31% rise in entries.
But the Open cannot continue without a Tournament Director, a referee and an organising team.
Organisation and compliance
Hub lease negotiations have paused. Craig will handle insurance and Andrew will review GDPR.
Risk assessments and event signage are also due for review.
Finances
The DTA recorded a £114 loss and holds £10,635 in reserves.
Future income and costs need attention, including sponsorship, stock sales, trophies and referee fees.
Member consultation
Members are invited to an open meeting at The Flavel on 10 November at 4:00pm to discuss the 2027 Open and the DTA's future direction.
Jubilee Fund
81.8% of respondents supported transferring the £5,000+ balance to the main Regatta account. Overall, approval hinges on clear, member-endorsed use of funds, with strong preferences for transparency, contributor consultation and notable resistance to hub-related spending (3) or open-ended general use. Establishing explicit spending plans, decision mechanisms (e.g., member vote), and confirming restrictions or priorities would address the remaining barriers to approval.
