Proposal to transfer the Jubilee Tennis account
Members were asked whether the Jubilee Tennis bank account should be transferred to the Dartmouth Tennis Association's account. Most said yes — but approval hinges on a clear, member-endorsed plan for how the money is used.

Most members support the transfer, citing the fund's growth and its potential for better use. Some, though, want to understand how it will be used and how decisions will be made before they approve.
The fund was built solely from weekly ball collections, and several comments make the point that it was given for tennis balls rather than general expenses.
Clarity on intended use
The most common concern, raised by six respondents. Members want to know where the bulk of the funds will be spent before approving.
“Not until it is clear what the funds are going to be used for.”
Some suggested facilities such as floodlights or shelters, rather than the Hub.
Consultation and decision rights
Raised by five respondents, overlapping with the point above. Members asked whether they will get a vote, and some felt contributors should be asked if they agree once a specific project is identified.
“Will members be given a vote on suggestions for use of the funds?”
Ring-fencing the money
Two respondents want the funds kept for the purchase of balls for the weekly sessions, not used for other tennis-related or general expenditure.
Oversight and transparency
Questions about how a ball fund grew to its present size, and how it has been collected, spent and accounted for over the years.
A few comments also raised concerns about communication and the tone of the process.
Spending on the Hub
Three respondents said explicitly that they do not want the money spent on the Hub.
One clarification was offered: the funds are not used to pay a monthly rent to the Hub, only a daily rate if needed.
Support without conditions
Several members simply backed the proposal: “Excellent proposal”, “Good idea”, “Very good idea”.
What would address the concerns
- An explicit spending plan, setting out where the money will go.
- A decision mechanism, such as a member vote, on how the funds are used.
- Consulting the people who contributed before a specific project is chosen.
- Confirming any restrictions or priorities, such as a ring-fence for balls and no spending on the Hub.
